Scott Haxton

Assistant Coach

Scott Haxton is the Assistant Coach for the club. Scott has been a member of Arbroath St Thomas since he was six years old, starting in the widths, progressing through all squads before taking the leap out of the pool to help out.
Scott holds the ASA Club Coach Certificate, and has completed the ASA Level 1 Disability course. Scott has been a Lane Coach on Scottish Swimming’s Flying Start/ Academy Programme before becoming the team manager/squad coach of Area 4 (Fife). He also assists with Angus Area Squad.

Scott
Within St. Thomas his duties include:
• Preparation and implementation of the annual plan for the junior and intermediate squads (as determined by individual needs and potential of swimmers).
• Consultation with head coach with reference to the annual plan for Junior and Intermediate squads.
• Working with the swimming committee to ensure continuity in delivery of all lessons.
• Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of coaching and teaching programmes.
• Attending CPD opportunities as appropriate.

When not coaching at St. Thomas, Scott works (extremely hard) at Borrowfield Primary, Montrose as a P7 teacher. During his well earned breaks from work (although he says the school holidays are not long enough) he can be found at his local gym in preparation for his return to competitive swimming some point in the future. The year 2012 has a nice ring to it but with his breaststrokers knees it may be a step too far! He has many “interesting books” and can often be found musing over the latest 1001 interesting facts about………! (We can only imagine Scott!!)
