Premier League - St Thomas

St Thomas were the hosts of the 3rd Premier League gala of the season which took place last Saturday at Arbroath Sports Centre.

It was a busy day for the club as many of its swimmers, committee members and coaches had spent a glorious day in the Brothock Burn racing ducks as part of the Seafest 10th anniversary celebrations.

But as the ducks rested for the night, it was then time for racing of a different kind as the team was hoping to build upon its solid start to the year and

demonstrate the hard work put in by the swimmers during the summer months.

Indeed the team was rewarded with a strong 3rd place overall; its best result of the season as the club was in 2nd place until the Freestyle Relay’s.

A special mention to Kezia Cameron, who was making her debut in the Premier League. She showed great determination by finishing her 50 Butterfly in a Personal Best time despite her goggles falling off at the start! Her hard work during the summer months really paid off as she also swam impressively in her 50 Breaststroke and 50 Freestyle. Congratulations also to Erin Stewart, Jamie Macleod, Beth Johnston, Louise Taylor and Paul Reid who won their respective individual races.

The next Premier gala is on 9th September at Perth but the club will be competing in a 3rd Division fixture in Arbroath on Saturday.
