The Essentials
- Good technique practiced throughout the training session is an essential part of a swimmers race strategy.
- Every time you do two lengths there is an opportunity to practice the correct turn for the stroke that you are doing.
- Start from the blocks at the beginning of each session.
- Know your stroke count for every stroke in both 25m and 50m pools.
- Arrive in time to do a poolside warm up before you get into the water. Always stretch at the end of a session.
Teamwork
There are four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Everybody was asked to do it.
Everybody was sure Somebody would do it.
Anybody could have done it but Nobody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody’s job.
Everybody thought Anybody could do it but Nobody realised that Everybody wouldn’t do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
Using the "facilities"
If you get out of the pool to use the facilities once a session,
If you are away 5 minutes each time and you attend 6 sessions per week,
Then after a month you have missed a two hour training session!
