About Us

St Thomas was founded in 1897. Since its start, the club has produced 2 Olympians, 1 Para Olympian, and 1 GB Down’s Syndrome Swimmer. The club has a proud history of success at national level, with swimmers regularly qualifying for Scottish National Age Group Championships, Scottish National Open Championships, and British Championships. Athletes from St Thomas have also represented Scotland and Great Britain at international meets, showcasing the club’s ability to develop swimmers to the highest levels of performance. Several swimmers have progressed into university performance programmes and national squads, while others have gone on to contribute to the sport through coaching, officiating, and technical roles.

Based at Arbroath Sports Centre, St Thomas is a thriving community club committed to fostering development, inclusivity, and a love of swimming at all levels. The club’s committee is entirely volunteer run, which reflects its strong community spirit and shared commitment to the sport. Parents and guardians play an essential role in the club’s success by supporting coaching, administration, event organisation, and officiating. Technical officials, coaches, helpers, and volunteers work together to provide a safe, supportive, and motivating environment for all members. The club prides itself on welcoming swimmers of all abilities and ages, encouraging personal achievement and lifelong involvement in swimming.
